Marc Wortmann Consultancy
My vision is making our societies better by supporting non-profit organizations to achieve their mission.
My consultancy is about strategy, governance, fundraising and advocacy for the non-profit sector in the Netherlands and globally. As a professional I am and have been an advisor to patient organizations, health care providers and academic partners.
I also write articles and blogs for De Dikke Blauwe magazine and website about non-profit issues, research, events and fundraising.
My main experience is in making patient organizations stronger and better able to deal with their challenges by improving their Strategy, Governance, Advocacy and Fundraising for the benefits of their patients and families. I have done this in the field of dementia and other chronic diseases and in ageing.
I have worked for 18 years in the field of dementia professionally. In two positions I have been able to work on awareness raising and leveraging of political attention for dementia. I am proud of what I achieved but also know much more need to be done and that is similar for other chronic conditions as well. Involving consumers, both people with a disease and their relatives is a crucial factor to make this happen.
I have a Master’s degree in law and worked as CEO of a retail company and as a provincial politician up to 1999. As head of my retail company I was in contact with our customers every day and learned how to meet and exceed their expectations. I also experienced what it means to work in a very competitive market while keeping a continuous focus on results. Meanwhile, as a (part-time) politician I learned to look at societal issues from a much broader perspective.
